Program Details:
Training Workshops:
These interactive workshops will focus on equipping participants with critical thinking skills, understanding the dangers of violent extremism, promoting the importance of peace and social cohesion, and training in market-relevant employability skills. Experts in the respective fields will facilitate the workshops.
Peer Mentorship:
Each participant will be matched with a mentor from our pool of seasoned professionals and successful alums of JLBC Cadet Corps programs. The mentors will provide personal guidance and career advice and will be an extra layer of support throughout the program. The mentorship will follow a structured framework but also have the flexibility to address individual needs.
Community Projects:
These projects will serve a dual purpose. First, they will provide participants with a practical platform to apply their newly learned skills, strengthening their employability. Secondly, through projects promoting peace, unity, and development, participants will contribute positively to their communities and help counteract the spread of extremist ideologies.
Program Design:
The logic model for the program is outlined as follows:
Resources: Funding from the grant, partnerships with ABC Youth Employment Agency and DEF Community Outreach, and support from our existing staff and volunteer base.
Activities: Regular training workshops, peer mentorship, and community development projects.
Outputs: Number of workshops held, number of youth trained, number of successful mentor-mentee matches, community projects completed, and subsequent jobs or businesses created.
Outcomes: Increased resilience against violent extremism, enhanced employability of the youth, and reduction in susceptibility to extremist ideologies.
Proposed Program Schedule and Timeline:
The program will officially commence in September 2023 and run for 12 months. Each program phase—training workshops, peer mentorship, and community projects—will be strategically spread across the program period to maximize impact and allow for sufficient monitoring and evaluation.
Key Personnel Continued:
. Program Officer: Alice Cooper, a youth development specialist, will coordinate the program activities and provide administrative support. Alice will dedicate 70% of her work time to this program.
Program Partners Continued:
The program will also benefit from collaborations with local government agencies and other community-based organizations that will contribute to vocational training, mental health support, and community outreach.
Program Monitoring and Evaluation Plan Continued:
The third-party evaluator will use qualitative and quantitative measures to assess the program’s success in achieving its goals and objectives. This includes conducting surveys, focus group discussions, and individual interviews and analyzing program data such as attendance rates, completion rates, job placement rates, and the nature of community projects undertaken.
Future Funding or Sustainability Continued:
Another long-term sustainability strategy is establishing a training center that provides fee-based courses to the public in areas such as leadership, entrepreneurship, and other marketable skills. The revenue generated from this center would be used to fund our programs, ensuring our ability to continue positively impacting youth and our communities.
