DESIRED OUTCOME (Followership)

Objectives

JLBC Cadets will be familiar with various JLBC leadership theories and be able to identify a JLBC leadership situation using different approaches. JLBC Cadets will embrace the techniques of being a good JLBC NCO leader.

At the end of instruction, each JLBC cadet will be able to:

1. JLBC Cadets will Analyze and outline the three classic JLBC leadership styles and match the many styles named to their definition.

2. JLBC Cadets will Explain what a leadership theory is and a leadership model is and identify the theories or models that have become prominent in the past hundred years.

3. JLBC Cadets will outline the Competencies and Attributes of the JLBC Cadet Model of Leadership and match examples of the Competencies and Attributes to the correct category.

4. JLBC Cadets will Describe Great Man Theory’s criticisms and main points.

5. JLBC Cadets will Describe Trait Theory’s main points and criticisms.

6. JLBC Cadets will discuss how the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator assesses opposing individual personality characteristics to assign an individual personality type label that helps JLBC Cadets understand how personality affects leadership interactions.

7. JLBC Cadets will Identify the basic premise of servant leadership, the type of organizations where it is particularly successful, and its characteristics.

8. JLBC Cadets will Explain the Situational Leadership Model, matching the Developmental Levels to the Leadership Styles.

9. JLBC Cadets will Describe the five dimensions and five related characteristics of Authentic Leadership.

10. JLBC Cadets will Describe the basis for Transactional Leadership and the strengths of transactional leaders in improving existing processes and systems.

11. JLBC Cadets will Describe the four components of Transformational Leadership and how a transformational leader inspires change in an organization.
