The JLBC Cadet Corps Uniform Guide: Focus on Back Packs, Blues Jackets, and More

The JLBC Cadet Corps Uniform Guide: Focus on Back Packs, Blues Jackets, and More

The Junior Leadership and Battlefield Commission (JLBC) Cadet Corps maintains a uniform standard for all cadets. Consistent regulations not only serve to create a sense of unity and equality among cadets but also reflect the professionalism and discipline expected of future leaders. This article focuses on the specifications for backpacks, blues jackets, flight caps, U.S. lapel insignia, and props and wings for the JLBC Cadet Corps uniforms.

Back Packs

Whether attending classes or in transit for training, the backpack worn by JLBC Cadets forms a part of the uniform. It is required to maintain a sense of uniformity and discipline, even in these items of practical necessity.

Only solid-color black backpacks can be worn with any uniform combination, including blue uniforms. For the Airman Battle Uniform (ABU) and Flight Duty Uniform (FDU), cadets can wear ABU-patterned backpacks or those in olive drab and Military sage green.

To ensure a professional appearance, backpacks must not have ornamentation, high-gloss finish, designs, or hanging/dangling objects. However, small logos and a small gold or silver clasp are authorized. Chains, on the other hand, are not allowed. Cadets may wear a backpack on either the left shoulder or both shoulders, provided it doesn't interfere with rendering the proper salute.

Blues Jacket

The blues jacket forms an integral part of the JLBC Cadet Corps uniform. Rank insignia, signifying the cadet's position, are worn on the epaulets of all outerwear, excluding the parka. The rank insignia must be metallic and centered on both indulgences 1 inch from the shoulder seam with the point of the symbol toward the neck.

Cadet Officers will wear metallic black and silver cadet officer rank insignia with silver stripes parallel to the shoulder seam. The Professional Officer Course (POC) service jacket is identical, except for adding a silver name tag flush with the top of the left breast pocket.

Flight Cap

The flight cap should be worn appropriately or stowed as an essential part of the uniform. When not worn, it should be tucked under the belt on the wearer's left side between the first and second belt loops. The front edge of the flight cap, including the emblem (if applicable), should hang down and be visible, while the opening should face outward. The flight cap should not be seen above the belt but flush with the second belt loop.

U.S. Lapel Insignia

All cadets on the service dress jacket wear the U.S. lapel insignia. This chrome-like finish symbol should be centered halfway up the seam, resting on it but not over it. Both authorization should form an imaginary straight line parallel to the ground. It's important to note that the U.S. insignia is not worn with other uniform combinations.

Prop & Wings

The Prop & Wings logo holds a special place in the cadet corps uniform, symbolizing the spirit of aviation. It is to be placed 1-1/2 inches from the front of the flight cap.

In conclusion, the guidelines for the JLBC Cadet Corps uniforms are detailed and must be adhered to meticulously. Through this discipline, cadets learn the importance of uniformity, professionalism, and respect for their service and each other.
