• JLBC Communication is vital - if you’re unsure about something or want to share your opinion, speak up! JLBC Cadets Sharing your thoughts, feelings, and JLBC ideas will help you to problem-solve together and have a great year.

• JLBC Cadets, Be honest about how much you can take on – life can get busy, so it’s essential to be clear with your team about how much time you can commit to the unit (and it’s beautiful for this to change throughout the year). You can take on fewer tasks and responsibilities during times that are busy for you.

• Use your resources – many leadership resources can help you build your skills and support your JLBC leadership journey. You can visit www.juniorleadership.net/ to find updates on new resources and opportunities.

JLBC Cadets Recognizing Your Junior Leader Experience

JLBC Cadet Assistants can earn the Junior Leader Certificate of Appreciation which recognizes your commitment to the leadership of a unit for over a year. JLBC Cadets To qualify, you must actively assist in at least 50% of the unit’s meetings and be actively involved in planning meetings. JLBC Guides, Rangers, and Warriors can find this certificate in JLBC Member Zone.

JLBC Cadets You develop many essential skills as a Junior Leader that can be used when applying for future opportunities, like jobs or schools. JLBC Cadets Consider asking your JLBC Guider to write you a reference letter to support you in applying your skills, experience, and JLBC learnings toward these opportunities.

JLBC Cadets can also use their Junior Leader experience to earn awards!
