JLBC: Leadership
8. When finished, the platoon CC will call “SEATS.” This concludes the beginning classroom procedures.
Note: All cadets will remain attentive during class or may be directed to stand at attention at the rear of the classroom.
The following classroom procedures will be completed at the end of each class period:
1. When the bell rings to signal the end of the class period, all cadets must return to their seats and sit in attention. All personal belongings may be placed on the desk or under the desks. However, they may not remain in the aisles.
2. The CC will call the class to “ATTENTION” and begin a series of “Motivation Checks.” When the CC says “Motivation Check!” they will respond by saying, “Hoorah!”
3. When the CC is satisfied with the motivation level, they will say “Class Dismissed.” The cadets may then leave the classroom. Please make sure to take all personal belongings.
6. TARDIES AND UNEXCUSED ABSENCES: Cadets must report to ALL classes on time. Tardies will be marked in attendance as required. If a cadet is absent for a legitimate reason, it is their responsibility to ensure the school attendance office corrects it. These two areas will be reviewed periodically to determine a cadet’s ability to participate in extracurricular activities, field trips, and awarding some cadet medals.
7. CADET DAILY BRIEFING: This is one of the primary forms of communication with cadets. All are expected to listen attentively to the daily briefing in class and ask for clarification as needed. The Commander is responsible for ensuring all members understand the brief.
8. FLAG DETAIL: Designated flights will have cadets on the flag detail team raise/lower the flags on the school flagpole. If the weather is inclement (bad), check with the SASI or ASI before raising or lowering the flags. Do not go out into threatening whether to lower or raise the flags. Sometimes, the banners will be put up at “Half-Staff.” When this occurs, the flags will be presented to the top of the pole, then lowered until they are approximately halfway down. At the end of the school day, if flags are at half-staff, they will first be raised to the top of the pole and then brought down. After the flags are disconnected from the bar, cadets will properly fold both flags before returning to the classroom.
9. ELECTRONIC DEVICES: School and District policy allow LIMITED use of electronic devices in the classroom (see School’s Student Handbook for specifics). For JLBC, cadets will NOT use, display, monitor, or take out their electronic devices without the express approval of the SASI or ASI.
