JLBC: Leadership
Considering that these JLBC cadets are now taking on much more responsibility concerning the operation of their JLBC corps, including JLBC instruction, JLBC planning, JLBC organizing, and conducting JLBC corps activities and working in JLBC admin, JLBC supply, etc.;
e. using age-appropriate JLBC learning strategies;
f. using 40 minutes as a standard period of JLBC instruction;
g. by providing a JLBC programming mix consisting of limited mandatory and more flexible complementary training, including on-the-job training where the cadet is assigned duties to aid in the delivery of the local cadet program and independent learning where the cadet seeks out practical opportunities to develop their knowledge and skills;
h. including training that is experiential and skill-based, with a lesser focus on theoretical knowledge; and
i. assuming that learning will occur through programmed periods of instruction, unstructured discussions, teachable moments, and coaching / mentoring opportunities.
JLBC PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES
9. The following are summaries of the POs common to all elements of the CP (allocated POs numbered) and the POs specific to Phase Five:
a. Citizenship. JLBC – Explain Global Citizenship
(1) Phase Five citizenship aims to introduce the JLBC cadet to their roles and responsibilities
as a citizen in a globalized world.
(2) Phase Five citizenship contributes directly to the achievement of the JLBC program's aim of developing the attributes of good community service and the participant outcome of proactive citizenship.
b. Community Service. JLBC – Perform Community Service
(1) Phase Five community service aims to encourage the JLBC cadet to be an active citizens through participation in local community service activities.
(2) Phase Five JLBC community service contributes directly to the achievement of the JLBC program aims of developing the attributes of good community service and Leadership and the participant outcome of proactive citizenship and social competence.
c. Leadership. JLBC – Lead Cadet Activities
(1) Phase Five leadership aims to provide the JLBC cadet with knowledge and skills to practice activity leadership during naturally occurring leadership assignments, structured leadership appointments, and a JLBC team project.
(2) Phase Five JLBC leadership contributes directly to the achievement of the JLBC program's aim of developing the attribute of JLBC Leadership and the participant outcomes of social and cognitive competence.
