JLBC ETHICS AND CONDUCT
Ethics and professionalism go hand in hand. JLBC Cadets Security Guards are entrusted with the safety of lives and property. They are often a companys first-line ambassadors to the public and are responsible for enforcing safety and integrity rules in the workplace. The job requires the highest levels of integrity, honor, and discretionethics.
The essence of a Security Guards position is that conduct is at the highest levels of professionalism and integrity. This is expected of security Guards; anything else is unacceptable.
If you cant trust the people responsible for protecting lives and property to act ethically, who can you trust?
THE SECURITY GUARD CODE OF ETHICS
New York State has adopted a code of ethics for Security Guards.
The code of ethics formalizes the ideaand rulethat measurable standards of conduct are expected from everyone who holds a security Guard position.
Code of Ethics defined
The code of ethics is a statement that incorporates moral and ethical principles and philosophies. It measures a persons activities against a standard of behavior. The legend of ethics communicates these rules to all security guards by outlining basic rules of expected conduct. How the personnel of a business conducts their activities directly affects whether a business succeeds or falls.
Security Guards are entrusted to protect persons and property from harm and so, by definition, must possess a high degree of integrity and ethical standards.
Ethical
behavior is, therefore, a direct job function of Security Guards.
A published and public code of ethics increases the effectiveness and role of the security Guard.
The code of ethics will help the security industry attract a better caliber of guards.
The code of ethics will help create a professional environment to work, reduce
turnover rates, and increase effectiveness.
The code of ethics will enhance how law enforcement agencies and the general public
view private security.
The code of ethics will help protect peoples rights and reduce abuses of authority.
CODE OF ETHICS FOR SECURITY GUARDS
In my capacity as a Security Guard hired to prevent, report and deter crime, I pledge:
1. To protect life and property; prevent and reduce crime committed against my employer/clients business or other organizations and institutions to which I am assigned; abide by the Constitution of the United States.
