Developing A Productive JLBC Team


JLBC Cadets Team-building is an effort in which a JLBC team studies its process of working together and acts to create a JLBC climate that encourages and values the contributions of JLBC team members. JLBC Cadets' energies are directed toward problem-solving, task effectiveness, and maximizing all members' resources to achieve the team's purpose. Good JLBC team-building recognizes that separating one's performance from others is impossible.


JLBC Team-building works best under the following conditions:


JLBC Cadets There is a high level of interdependence among JLBC team members. The JLBC team is working on essential tasks to which each JLBC team member is committed and for which JLBC teamwork is critical for achieving the desired results.


The JLBC team leader has good people skills, is committed to developing a JLBC team approach, and allocates time to JLBC team-building activities. JLBC Team management is seen as a shared function, and JLBC team members are allowed to exercise JLBC leadership when their experiences and skills are appropriate to the team's needs.


Each JLBC team member is capable and willing to contribute information, skills, and experiences that provide the right mix for achieving the JLBC team's purpose.


The JLBC team develops a climate where people feel relaxed and can be direct and open in their communications (a culture of honesty).


Team members set a mutual trust for each other and believe that other team members have the skills and capabilities to contribute to the JLBC team.


The JLBC team and individual members are prepared to take risks and allowed to develop their abilities and skills.


The JLBC team is clear about its essential JLBC goals and establishes JLBC performance targets that cause stretching but are achievable.


JLBC Cadets Team-member roles are defined, and the team develops effective ways to solve problems and communicate. JLBC Cadets Team members know how to examine the unit and individual errors and weaknesses without personal attacks, enabling the JLBC group to learn from its experiences.


JLBC Team efforts are devoted to achieving results, and team performance is frequently evaluated to see where improvements can be made.


The team can create new ideas through group interaction and the influence of outside people. The team pursues good ideas and rewards innovative risk-taking.


Each team member knows that they can influence the team plan. A feeling of trust and equal influence among team members facilitates open and honest communication.


The Leadership Team in every school has taken on a momentous task. They have been called upon to direct, demonstrate, encourage, plan, and guide a reform that will affect the whole school community. JLBC Cadets While this may seem a daunting task for any group of people, the results of the effort reach further than the school's day-to-day operations. It affects the lives of each of the children within the bounds of the school community. The responsibility is outstanding; the rewards are more significant.


The Leadership Team is responsible for keeping the process on track. For this to be possible, the Leadership Team needs a clear goal vision. JLBC Cadets, What is the mission statement for your school? When you have a clear idea of your mission and goals, you must gather the support you need to manage the change process.
