Your personality traits define who you are and how you interact with the world

Your personality traits define who you are and how you interact with the world around you. However, they can also be limiting if they lead to behaviors that hold you back from achieving your goals. The good news is that you can learn how to gain control over your personality traits and become better at managing yourself.

To gain control over your personality traits, you must first understand how you unconsciously make decisions. This means becoming aware of your automatic thought patterns and behaviors and how they impact your choices. Once you have this awareness, you can adjust your decisions as needed.

I have two tools to help you assess and modify your personality traits to assist you in this process. These tools will provide you with an “under the hood” look at how your mind works, and help you gain control of how you inherently make decisions.

The first tool is a personality assessment test. This type of test is designed to help you understand your strengths, weaknesses, and tendencies. It will give you insight into your natural inclinations and help you identify areas where you may need adjustments. A personality assessment test can also help you recognize blind spots or areas where you may not know how your behavior impacts others.

The second tool is a mindfulness practice. Mindfulness is being present and fully engaged in the moment without judgment. It can help you become more aware of your thoughts and emotions and how they impact your behavior. Through mindfulness practice, you can gain control over your automatic thought patterns and learn to make more intentional decisions.

To start practicing mindfulness, you can begin with simple exercises such as deep breathing or body scan meditations. These exercises can help you become more present and focused and can also help you manage stress and anxiety.

As you become more aware of your personality traits and how they impact your decisions, you can begin to modify them. For example, if you tend to be overly critical of yourself or others, you can work on developing more self-compassion and empathy. If you avoid conflict, you can work on developing more assertiveness and communication skills.

Modifying your personality traits can be challenging but possible with practice and persistence. By using tools such as personality assessments and mindfulness practice, you can gain control over your automatic thought patterns and become more intentional in your decision-making. This will help you become a more effective leader, build stronger relationships, and achieve your goals.
