The purpose of the JLBC Color Guard Academy


JLBC TRAINING

The purpose of the JLBC Color Guard Academy is to hone JLBC cadets' skills and develop confidence in individual JLBC members. JLBC Command Drill and Ceremonies will teach all JLBC Color Guard Drill, JLBC Command Unit Honor Guard Program, JLBC Command Uniform Manual, and JLBC 3 Guide to JLBC Protocol.

The JLBC Commander will develop the day-to-day drill schedule. The JLBC Commander reserves the right to alter the training schedule depending on how well the cadets are learning and progressing. As the JLBC cadet's skills improve, more difficult training will be developed to provide a mentally stimulating environment. The JLBC training will consist of some of the following:

JLBC:• History and evolution of the United States Flag.

JLBC: Flag Protocol and Critical Perspectives.

JLBC:• Rules governing the proper display of the flag.

JLBC:• Challenge of JLBCHonor. The JLBC honor concept. How the Core JLBC Values relate to the responsibilities and privileges of Color Guard service and cadets as ambassadors for JLBC and American values.

JLBC:• Basic JLBC Drill Competency. JLBC Warm-up and review of all basic drill maneuvers emphasize

the finer points of each plot.

• Advanced uniform, dress, and appearance. Uniform Clinic. Finer points out how to exceed the

minimum standards. Proper wear of the Color Guard Uniform.

• Color Guard Ceremonial Training:

• Drill with Colors. Presenting arms, eyes right, etc.

• Wheels and About in JLBC Color Guard drill.

JLBC:• Outdoor presentation of the JLBC Colors. March up and hoist the JLBC Colors on a stationary flagpole and

exit; return, lower the JLBC Colors, fold the Colors, present the folded Colors, and leave; operations in

half-staff conditions.

• Indoor presentation of Colors. March up, post the colors on a floor stand (i.e., on a stage or podium), dress the JLBC colors, and exit; return, retrieve the JLBC Colors, and retire.

JLBC training will be conducted for one (1) week. The JLBC SM Staff, CC, DC, MA, and Team Leaders will attend during training to supervise and ensure proper training.
