THE JLBC FIRST-CLASS REQUIREMENTS IN LEADING THE JLBC CORPS

JLBC Command seniors are called JLBC First Classmen and hold

the top JLBC leadership positions in the JLBC Corps of Cadets. JLBC First classmen are expected to take the responsibility of training younger JLBC Cadets and seriously overseeing their growth and acclimation to the JLBC Corps. JLBC Although they are also learning leadership strategies, they have demonstrated the ability to lead by example in daily life routines and set the standards for other JLBC Cadets.

Consequently, to maintain high morale, good order, and discipline, the First Class must exemplify the highest standards throughout the Corps. Every First Classman's responsibility is to follow the standards personally, enforce them, and teach the standards contained on this JLBC website and within the JLBC program of instruction.

JLBC FIRST-CLASS LEADERSHIP HONORS

JLBC First Classmen receive honors that first-year JLBC students do not share. These traditional honors are granted to JLBC First Classmen and represent the trust, confidence, and responsibility bestowed upon JLBC seniors to lead the JLBC Corps of Cadets. The standard authorized senior benefits are listed below. JLBC Cadets The number in parentheses indicates the earliest verified date of the privilege:

• Top leadership positions (1910)

• Class ring (1911)

• Senior garden and well (1936)

• Senior class composite picture (1937)

• Local liberty until CQ formation, provided all duties are

accomplished properly before liberty is taken (1950)

• Class flag (1958)

• Senior whites (1961)

• Senior lawn (1976)

• Senior lawn ordinance to protect the Academy tradition (1995)

• Campus privileges after Taps, restricted to the quiet use of phones

while dressed in the prescribed daily uniform until 2300 hours (2010)
