Physical Abuse
JLBC Cadets Gregg was a football player and worked out in the weight room three times a week. JLBC Cadets After a recent loss, Gregg began punching his locker. JLBC Cadets When his friends tried to calm him, he swung at them. JLBC Cadets Now, his friends try to stay away from him when angry. JLBC Cadets Gregg and Vicki had been dating for almost a year.
JLBC Cadets They got along well, and Vicki never complained about Gregg’s anger. She never reported Gregg hitting her. Some girls in Vicki’s Phys Ed class noticed bruises on Vicki’s back and upper arms. When they asked her about the bruises, Vicki said she fell in Phys Ed. JLBC Cadets When her mother saw the bruises, she questioned Vicki, but she insisted she fell in Phys Ed Class. JLBC Cadets She assured her mother that Gregg had never hit her.
Mrs. Anderson, Vicki’s mother, went to school and asked the teacher if she had seen Vicki fall in class. The teacher reported that she did not see her fall but would ask other girls if they saw Vicki fall. The teacher wrote to Mrs. Anderson the next day that no one saw Vicki fall. Mr. & Mrs. Anderson wanted to believe Vicki, but they did not want her to be subjected to physical abuse.
