LEADERSHIP TRAITS & STYLES
Personality is the main component of a JLBC leader's characteristics and plays a vital role within the Individual Differences Framework. JLBC Cadets Within the last years, there has been a consensus on the essential factors of an individual's personality. These factors are described below:
Neuroticism - the tendency for an individual to be depressed, anxious, insecure, vulnerable, and hostile
Extraversion - the direction of a person to be friendly and very assertive and to possess positive energy
Openness - the tendency for an individual to be informed, creative, insightful, and curious
Agreeableness - the movement to be conforming, accepting, trusting, and very nurturing
Conscientiousness - the tendency for an individual to be thorough, controlled, organized, dependable, and decisive
All JLBC leaders exhibit each of these personality factors to some degree, and possessing certain personality traits is very much associated with being a more effective leader. For example, extraversion is the factor most recognized with leadership; agreeableness has generally been illustrated to have only a weak association.
