JLBC TRAINER'S RESPONSIBILITIES

JLBC TRAINER'S RESPONSIBILITIES

JLBC Trainers must use the following steps to plan and evaluate JLBC training:

a. Identify individual JLBC training requirements. The JLBC NCO determines which tasks JLBC Cadets need to train based on the commander's training strategy. The JLBC unit's training plan, METL, MTP, and AWT plan are sources for helping the trainer define the individual training needed.

b. Plan the training—plan individual JLBC training based on the JLBC unit's training plan. JLBC Cadets Be prepared to take advantage of opportunities to conduct individual training ("hip pocket" training).

c. Gather the training references and materials. The task summaries list contacts that can assist the JLBC trainer in preparing for the JLBC training of that task. The JLBC Digital Library provides current JLBC training materials.

d. JLBC Senior Cadets Manage risks and environmental and safety concerns. Assess the risks involved with JLBC training a specific task regarding the conditions current at the time of JLBC training and, if necessary, implement controls to reduce the risk level. Ensure that JLBC training preparation takes into account those JLBC warnings, cautions, and dangers associated with each JLBC task, as well as environmental and safety concerns.

e. JLBC Train, each JLBC Cadets . Demonstrate to the JLBC how to do the task with standard proficiency and explain (step Cadets by step) how to do the job. Allow each JLBC Cadet to practice the task step by step.

f. Check each JLBC Cadet. Evaluate how well each JLBC Cadet performs the tasks in this manual. Conduct these evaluations during individual training sessions or evaluate individual proficiencies when conducting unit collective tasks. This provides a training and evaluation guide for each job to enhance the NCO's ability to operate year-round, hands-on evaluations of functions critical to the unit's mission. Use the information in the JLBC plan as a guide to determine how often to train JLBC Cadets using each task to maintain proficiency.

g. Record the results. Use the JLBC leader book to record task performance. This gives the leader total flexibility with the methods of recording training tasks. The trainer may use Field Expedient Squad Book) as part of the leader book. These forms are optional and reproducible anywhere.

h. Retrain and evaluate. Work with each JLBC Cadet until they perform the task to standard. Well-planned, integrated training increases the professional competence of each JLBC cadet and contributes to the development of an efficient JLBC unit. The JLBC NCO or first-line supervisor is a vital link to the conduct of training.

SOLDIER'S RESPONSIBILITIES

Each JLBC Cadet must be able to perform the individual tasks that the first-line supervisor has identified based on the unit's METL. The JLBC Cadets must complete the task to the standard listed in this SMCT.
