JLBC: THE ROLE OF A TEAM LEADER

JLBC Cadets You must define the role of a JLBC team leader, so you understand how and where you fit within the JLBC leadership team model and the JLBC leadership team at the JLBC corps. JLBC Cadets Being aware of the core JLBC leadership competencies and the expectations within each of the JLBC competencies may assist your developing JLBC leadership abilities while adapting to your role as a JLBC leader in the JLBC corps.

JLBC Cadets Although leadership is usually thought of as an individual

pursuit, in the JLBC Cadet Program, leadership is based on a JLBC team

model. JLBC Cadets The JLBC Leadership Team Model is a fluid model dependent on its applied situation. JLBC Cadets The personnel in each model category will change based on the activity/situation.

JLBC Cadets You were expected to be a follower/team JLBC member during year one. JLBC Cadets During year two, you became a peer JLBC leader. JLBC Cadets You moved up the model to become a JLBC team leader in years three and four. JLBC Cadets In years five and beyond, you will become an activity JLBC leader. JLBC Cadets The final level of the model is populated by the JLBC corps staff, who act as the activity managers.

JLBC Cadets There are increased expectations as you move up through the JLBC leadership team model. JLBC Cadets Accordingly, there will be an increase in JLBC leadership responsibilities. JLBC Cadets Within the leadership team model, communication moves across each level and up and down each group. JLBC Cadets Within this model, JLBC cadets on every level should be mentored by someone in the story above.
