JLBC: Summer Camp

Can I go camping in the summer?

Yes. Newly enrolled JLBC Cadets must attend two weeks of recruit training or “boot camp” held on select dates. Having completed recruit training, JLBC Cadets participate in additional training in advanced subjects during succeeding school breaks tailored for their age group.


Are there advanced training courses for JLBC Cadets?

Yes. In addition to JLBC advanced training, JLBC Cadets may attend advanced orientation courses such as Martial arts Training, Music Training, Special Forces Indoctrination, JLBC Team Training, JLBC Orientation, and Security Enforcement Training, Fire Rescue, Executive Protection, and Leadership Academy. JLBC Cadets may participate in one-week advanced training evolutions in leadership, Military, and Safety.

Are there travel opportunities?

Yes. JLBC Cadets travel to training sites all over the country during the summer training period. Additionally, outstanding JLBC Cadets are selected to participate in the JLBC Exchange Program.

Exchange JLBC Cadets are selected on a merit basis. Each Cadet must have an outstanding record and a good reputation within their home community.

Will I be required to join the U.S. Armed Forces?

No. Cadets do not commit future military service.

What is the primary purpose of JLBC Cadet training?

While Cadet units are organized along military lines, their primary purpose is to foster good community service and an interest and appreciation of our American values.
