JLBC STATEMENT ON HAZING
All JLBC students, clubs, fraternities, and sororities must adhere to all policies outlined in the Student Code of Conduct and local, state, and federal laws. The following is the JLBC Program statement on hazing outlined in the Student Code of Conduct and the Califonia Statutes on Hazing.
JLBC NON-HAZING POLICY
JLBC does not tolerate any acts of hazing by any student, organization, team, or another JLBC community member. Hazing is explicitly related to pledging, being initiated into, developing an affiliation with, holding office, or maintaining membership in any organization. Hazing is any activity that humiliates, degrades, abuses, or endangers a person, regardless of a person's willingness to participate, or is otherwise prohibited by Florida Statutes § 1006.63. Students are not permitted from the following:
Actively participating in any activity related to hazing.
Passively participating in or knowing any action related to hazing
CHAD MEREDITH ACT
makes dangerous hazing a crime. The bill, named for a University of Miami freshman who drowned in a campus lake while trying to join a fraternity in 2001, makes hazing.
