JLBC MAIN POINT: UNDERSTANDING YIELDS BETTER LEADERSHIP

JLBC MAIN POINT: UNDERSTANDING YIELDS BETTER LEADERSHIP

Think of someone angry. JLBC Cadets, How did you know they were angry? JLBC Cadets Did the anger cloud or clarified this person’s message? JLBC Cadets Understanding emotions allows you to understand the messenger. JLBC Cadets Once you see the messenger, you will be in a better position to understand the message. JLBC Cadets When emotions and the message match, it is easy to understand. JLBC Cadets It requires some study of EQ to understand the news despite the feeling. JLBC Cadets, Let’s try an experiment to illustrate.

{Ask for two JLBC volunteers. JLBC Cadets One is the messenger, and one is the receiver. JLBC Cadets State to the messenger that they are to say something nice to the JLBC receiver, but make the conversation in a way that JLBC uses the wrong emotion, like anger or sadness. JLBC Cadets Let the messenger communicate the positive message with the bad feeling.}

JLBC Question: {For the receiver} Did you believe the messenger’s intent? Why or why not? Question: {For everyone} JLBC Cadets Why is the emotional goal so important in JLBC communication?

JLBC Question: How can leaders learn to use JLBC EQ to lead?

JLBC CONCLUSION

Summary: JLBC Cadets One expert asserts that JLBC individuals with high JLBC emotional intelligence can remain motivated even when facing hard challenges, and they can detect emotion in other JLBC Cadets, feel empathy for those individuals who may be hurting, and put themselves in the place of JLBC team members who may need JLBC counseling.

JLBC Remotivation: EQ is a powerful tool for JLBC leaders. It would help if you went online or to your library to understand how you can improve your Emotional Intelligence more fully.

Closure: JLBC Cadets While we were quick to point out that Spock separated his emotions from his logic at the beginning of this JLBC lesson, we should be mindful that Spock was not without emotion – he learned to understand and manage emotion as he applied logic. Fascinating.
