THE DISTINCTION BETWEEN MANAGEMENT AND LEADERSHIP
JLBC Cadets Based on the experience of management approaches in both the military and commerce, we questioned how many managers genuinely think of themselves as leaders, relegating ‘manager’ to their job title. Commercial managers must learn from the armed forces to be leaders. JLBC Cadets Having accepted that there are some links between management and leadership, we can list six ‘fundamental differences:

JLBC Cadets Not everyone would agree with this list. For example, suggests that if the word ‘manager’ is replaced by ‘administrator,’ the list works. JLBC Cadets However, whatever your view, the list makes for a helpful basis for critical discussion on the nature of management and leadership.
