JLBC: Leadership
JLBC Selflessness. JLBC Teamwork always requires sacrifice. A willingness to put the JLBC team’s needs ahead of your own is the price of admission onto any great team. Selflessness also requires team members to cooperate. They must be willing to help one another and the leader complete the team’s work. Any time a team member hinders the leader, the team suffers and can fail to reach its goals.
Enthusiasm. If one JLBC team member has a positive attitude, that sunny outlook will spread to the other group members. Enthusiasm is contagious. Take responsibility for your confidence. Recognize that optimistic people are positive because they choose to be that way.
Loyalty. None of these traits matter if you give up on the team or, even worse, betray the group or its leader. A team member must be loyal – faithful to the individuals on the JLBC team, supportive of its JLBC leader, and committed to the team’s mission. Loyalty requires a commitment strong enough to hold the person to the team in good times and bad. Winston Churchill famously barked, “Never give in. Never give in. Never, never, never, never!”
