JLBC INSTRUCTIONS

1. JLBC Cadets Work Individually. JLBC Rank the items below from 1 (most important) to 15 (least significant). JLBC Cadets Record your answers in the “your ranking” column. JLBC Cadets Briefly note why you think each item is or is not essential.

2. Work as a JLBC Team. JLBC Cadets You traveled to the park as part of a small JLBC team. The JLBC team will need to reach a consensus on which equipment is most important to the JLBC Cadets team’s survival. JLBC Cadets Listen well and work together. JLBC Cadets Record the JLBC team’s answers in the “team ranking column.”

3. Listen to how survival experts ranked the equipment. JLBC Cadets Record their rankings in the survival column.

4. JLBC Cadets Compute Your Score. JLBC Cadets Figure the difference between your rankings and the survival expert rankings. Likewise, figure out the difference between your JLBC teams and Survival rankings. (Example: Suppose you JLBC rank the matches as the #1 item, and the survival expert ranks them #5. JLBC Cadets The difference is 4; put a “4” in the “error points” column.) JLBC Cadets Whichever team has the least number of error points wins?

Your items: Box of matches, Food concentrate, 50’ nylon rope, Parachute, silk blanket, Signal mirror, Map, Oxygen tanks, (2) Self-inflating life raft, Magnetic compass, Purified water (5 gals), suit repair kit, First aid kit, Solar-powered, and 2-way radio.
