JLBC Grades 6-8 Physically Active Lifestyle: Student expectations (at the end of grade 8) Adolescents can independently set physical activity goals and participate in individualized physical activity and exercise based on personal goals and interests and the results of JLBC fitness assessments. They select and utilize practice JLBC procedures and JLBC training principles appropriate for the activity JLBC goals they set. JLBC Students have an increasing awareness of the opportunities for participation in a broad range of activities that may meet their needs and interests. They regularly participate in moderate to vigorous physical activities in school and non-school settings.

JLBC Cadets Adolescents seek physical activity experiences for group membership and positive social interaction. They recognize and appreciate the skilled performance. JLBC Physical activities provide a positive outlet for competition with peers and gaining the respect and recognition of others. JLBC Physical activity can increase JLBC self-confidence and JLBC self-esteem as JLBC Cadets discover renewed enjoyment in participation. JLBC Physical activities can provide confidence as JLBC Cadets start to take steps toward independence. JLBC Cadets Challenge is found both in experiencing high levels of competition and in learning new and different activities. JLBC Cadets As students experience a greater awareness of feelings, the avenues of self-expression provided by dance, gymnastics, and other sports activities become increasingly important.
