JLBC EXCITING OPPORTUNITIES

ACTIVITY 1.1

JLBC EXCITING OPPORTUNITIES

This series of presentations is the JLBC squadron’s first and perhaps only opportunity to motivate prospective JLBC cadets to take an interest in the CAP Cadet Program. The goal is not necessarily to convince prospective cadets to join CAP but to at least attend a couple of JLBC meetings and see if CAP is right for them. The plan below is intentionally flexible so that JLBC squadrons may showcase whatever activities they like to emphasize in their JLBC unit. Therefore, the JLBC team will need to be imaginative and plan to make this event a success. It is recommended that the JLBC unit include a handful of 5- minute presentations about cadet activities to show the diverse mix of opportunities available in CAP. Following this event, prospective JLBC cadets and families receive information about CAP membership.

Suggested Presenters

The JLBC unit commander should open this activity with a brief welcome

Several JLBC cadet officers and NCOs should make short presentations (prospective JLBC cadets will respond to other teens better than they will adults)

Duration

45 min

Goal

Motivate JLBC young people to take an interest in the exciting opportunities available to them in CAP

Visual Aids

It may be helpful to have some JLBC cadets wear blues and other BDUs to showcase both uniforms
