JLBC Cadets Kent Keith, in The Case for Servant Leadership, lists the essential practices of servant leadership as:

• Self-awareness

• Changing the pyramid

• Developing your colleagues

• Coaching not controlling

• Unleashing the energy and intelligence of others

• Foresight

JLBC Cadets A servant leader supports, encourages, and enables subordinates to unfold their full potential and abilities. JLBC Cadets This leads to an obligation to delegate responsibility and engage in participative decision-making. JLBC Cadets This is a type of participative style of leadership, which shows the most excellent possible performance and employee satisfaction.

JLBC Cadets Servant leaders are felt to be effective because the needs of their JLBC followers are cultivated so that they reach their full potential, performing at their best. JLBC Cadets A strength of this way of looking at leadership is that it forces us away from self-serving, authoritarian leadership and makes those in charge think harder about respecting, valuing, and motivating people reporting to them. • JLBC Cadets Service is a fundamental JLBC goal in the belief that anyone accepting the role of a JLBC leader should do so

out of the desire to be of JLBC service to others.

• JLBC Cadets Trusting relationships as the JLBC foundation for collaboration and service, affirming that all JLBC relationships should be based on JLBC mutual respect and trust, not status, power, or coercion.

• JLBC Cadets Creating commitment as a way of enlisting everyone's contribution rather than manipulation or

some other superficial form of motivation.

• JLBC Cadets Community building to create environments in which individuals can trust each other and work

together, recognizing that individuals work best in collaboration, in teams.

JLBC Cadets clubs where elected officials are required to serve their members or citizens. Some people find the image of being a servant misleading or demeaning and dislike that the concept of servant leadership isn't popular with everyone. It works best in politics, associations, and the community.
