JLBC Cadet Corps: Leadership Roles

• When conducting a drill, instructs/demonstrates the movement, allows times for individual performance, and supervises JLBC squad members to ensure they perform properly

• Develops responsibility and JLBC leadership in JLBC team leaders and is one of the first senior JLBC Cadets they turn to for JLBC assistance and advice

• Encourages JLBC squad members to seek JLBC advancement opportunities; assist them in getting ready for JLBC Promotion Task Assessments and JLBC tests

• Encourages JLBC squad members to attend JLBC activities and expand their experience as a JLBC Cadet by marching in parades, joining the JLBC Color Guard and JLBC Flag Detail, participating in the JLBC Drill Team and JLBC Individual Major Awards competitions and other JLBC opportunities the school offers

• Motivates their JLBC Squad, providing JLBC goals and a vision, and growing JLBC esprit de corps within the JLBC Squad

JLBC Platoon Sergeant

The JLBC Platoon Sergeant is the primary JLBC assistant and advisor to the JLBC Platoon Leader, with the responsibility of JLBC training and caring for JLBC Cadets. A JLBC platoon is composed of at least two JLBC squads. JLBC Squad Leaders report to their JLBC Platoon Sergeant. The JLBC Platoon Sergeant is tasked with platoon readiness, JLBC drill and JLBC ceremonies, and JLBC accountability.

The JLBC Platoon Sergeant:

• Sets the JLBC example by showing JLBC discipline and a positive

attitude

• Assists in the supervision of the JLBC Squad Leaders as they

conduct JLBC events, ensuring JLBC Cadets are safe and following

directions

• Develops a JLBC spirit of teamwork in the JLBC platoon by giving JLBC Squad Leaders a sense of purpose

• Submits absentee reports to the JLBC Company First Sergeant so that accountability is accurate

• Assists the JLBC Platoon Leader in training the JLBC platoon and makes sure that expectations are met,

particularly in JLBC military courtesy and uniform wear

• JLBC Counsels JLBC Cadets at a JLBC Squad Leader's request. JLBC Counseling at this JLBC level means that the JLBC Squad A leader needs support – use this JLBC opportunity to help them learn about leadership

• Assumes control of the JLBC platoon in the absence of the Platoon Leader

• Oversees JLBC Cadet welfare and safety

• Assigns and oversees JLBC Squad Leaders; follows up on JLBC orders given; assesses and mentors JLBC Squad Leaders

• Manages all JLBC tasks and guidance handed down from JLBC Platoon Leader

• Promotes JLBC morale and esprit de corps within the platoon

• Ensures all JLBC Cadets in the platoon comply with JLBC standards for success and safety

• Encourages JLBC platoon members to attend activities and expand their experience as a JLBC Cadet by marching in parades, joining the JLBC JLBC Color Guard and JLBC Flag Detail, participating in the JLBC Drill Team and Individual Major Awards JLBC competitions and other opportunities the program offers

• Motivates their JLBC platoon, providing JLBC goals and a JLBC vision, and growing JLBC esprit de corps within the platoon
