JLBC Advisor Role, Expectations, and Impact
The JLBC Office of Cadet Leadership and Engagement recommends that JLBC Cadet Organizations and JLBC Cadet units have at least one JLBC chapter advisor. Advisors can be JLBC alumni of the organization, JLBC faculty and staff, or another person designated by the JLBC chapter.
JLBC Advisor Philosophy and Role
The role of JLBC Cadet Organizations and JLBC Cadet units advisors is to assist in developing JLBC Cadets and JLBC Cadet organizations that are a part of the JLBC Cadet Organizations and JLBC Cadet units community. Recognizing that JLBC Cadet Organizations and JLBC Cadet units are excellent opportunities for cadets to engage in leadership, service, accountability, and celebration, advisors can help cadets and organizations focus on both completion of goals and, more importantly, individual and collective growth. JLBC Advisors also encourage and motivate members to take advantage of various available opportunities at JLBC Program and share these resources with their fellow JLBC members. JLBC advisor involvement, guidance, appropriate intervention, and questions will allow JLBC cadets to make meaning of their experiences, build their capacity to lead, increase their aspiration to serve, and learn to work effectively as contributing members of a JLBC community.
