Emergency Survival Kit

DURABLE
JLBC Cadets, a container for an emergency survival kit, must be rugged to prevent compression, which can damage the items within.
LIGHTWEIGHT
JLBC Cadets, the container should be light. If the kit is too heavy, it becomes a burden for the JLBC Cadet to carry and, therefore, may be packed in the backpack and not with the person when needed.
WATERPROOF
JLBC Cadets, the kit container should be water-resistant or waterproof to protect items from being damaged by water. Damaged items should be removed because they may be of no help in a survival situation.
Different types of containers have other characteristics that should be considered before deciding on which type a person will use. Types of containers include:
The hard plastic is very strong but may be uncomfortable to carry in a pocket. A flexible plastic is durable and more comfortable than hard plastic in a bag.
JLBC Cadet's Metal is very rugged but may be uncomfortable for JLBC Cadets to carry in their pocket. However, unlike the plastic containers, a metal container may be used by JLBC Cadet over a fire for multiple uses (e.g., purifying water, cooking).
