As someone on a journey to increase their weight and muscle mass, I know how frustrating it can be to hit a plateau. After months of hard work and dedication, your progress has reached a standstill. But I learned that breaking through a plateau is possible, starting with changing your routine.
When I hit a plateau in my weight gain journey, I knew I needed to do something different. I couldn't keep doing the same workouts and eating the same way and expect to see different results. So, I created a "battle drill for change" that helped me break through my plateau and reach my goal of gaining 30 lbs of muscle in six months.
Here are the steps I used to break through my plateau and achieve my weight gain goal:
Reassess your goals: Before making any changes, it's essential to reassess them. Are you still working towards the same purpose as when you started? Or have your priorities shifted? Once you clearly understand your goals, you can create a plan to achieve them.
Change your workout routine: Your body can adapt to it, making it less effective. To break through a plateau, you need to switch up your routine. Incorporate new exercises or increase the weight or reps you're doing.
Increase your calorie intake: If you're not gaining weight, it could be because you need to consume more calories. To build muscle, you need to be in a calorie surplus. Start tracking your calorie intake and increase it slowly over time.
Focus on protein: Protein is essential for building muscle. Make sure you're consuming enough protein to support muscle growth. Aim for at least one gram of protein per pound of body weight.
Get enough rest: Your body needs rest to recover and build muscle. Make sure you're getting enough sleep and taking rest days as needed.
Be consistent: Consistency is vital when it comes to making progress. Please stick to your new routine and give it time to work.
By following these steps, I broke through my plateau and gained 30 lbs of muscle in just six months. But the most important lesson I learned was that to achieve different results, I needed to make changes to my routine. It's not enough to want to change; you must take action and do things differently.
I encourage anyone who wants to change their life to create a "battle drill for change." It's a powerful tool to help you break through plateaus and achieve your goals. Change is possible, but it starts with taking action and doing things differently.
